20s – 30s RED CROWN GASOLINE 30 DOUBLE SIDED PORCELAIN (DSP) SIGN. Genuine and Authentic Early Gas Station Curb Lollipop Sign. UP FOR SALE IS AN EXTREMELY RARE AND VERY SCARCE ORIGINAL ANTIQUE VINTAGE STANDARD OIL COMPANY RED CROWN ETHYL GASOLINE MOTOR OIL DOUBLE SIDED PORCELAIN LOLLIPOP 30 SIGN WITH ORIGINAL SOLID STEEL RING AND HEAVY CAST IRON BASE. Late 20s – Early 30s Standard Oil Company Red Crown “Ethyl” Gasoline 30 DSP Double Sided Porcelain Lollipop Curb Sign with original ring and original cast iron base. It’s got some significant chipping due to getting gunshot bullet riddled a very long time ago. This sign wasn’t “Pieced” together, it has 100% all original parts and is a very tough sign to find with ring & base. When I found it, the sign was covered with black paint on both sides and hand painted “Open” and “Closed”. I stripped it with (Citri – Strip) and it was like cutting butter with a hot knife!!! The black paint literally melted off the sign… Its obviously not a perfect sign but it’s the real deal!!! Measures 55″ high with 30″ ring and 24 base. Sign has many gouges, scratches, chips and marks which all give it such great vintage character and natural patina!! EXTREMELY RARE AND VERY, VERY SCARCE!!!! ORIGINAL CONDITION SHOWING NORMAL SIGNS OF USAGE WHICH IS APPROPRIATE WITH THE AGING PROCESS SUCH AS A LOT OF WEAR WHICH ONLY ADDS TO THE AMAZING NATURAL VINTAGE PATINA AND CHARACTER IT TRULY HAS!!! LOTS OF GOUGES, CHIPS AND VERY BULLET RIDDLED BUT IT STILL HAS NICE GLOSS AND COLOR IN MANY AREAS!! I WISH I COULD TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THIS PIECE BUT ALL I KNOW FOR SURE IS THE FACT THAT IT WAS FOUND IN A BARN RECENTLY HERE IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN. WHEN I FOUND IT, THE SIGN WAS COVERED WITH MANY LAYERS OF DUST, DIRT AND GRIME AND PAINTED BLACK ON BOTH SIDES WITH HANDPAINTED LETTERING “OPEN” ON ONE SIDE AND “CLOSED” ON THE OTHER SIDE!!! I STRIPPED IT WITH CITRI STRIP AND SHE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL WITH NICE BRIGHT COLORS AND SHINY GLOSS!!!
