This is an original 1940’s Esso Motor Oil sign. This is the popular sign that they are making reproductions of. Someone had cut about 1 1/2 on the bottom of this sign as you can see in pic # 3 but you still can make out the words Motor Oil on the back side of the sign. You would not know the sign was ever cut when looking at the front. I have had this sign hanging in my collection for over 30 years with the side the shows Esso Motor Oil (pic # 1)and no one had ever mentioned the sign was cut. You can only show one side of a sign when you hang it so why pay the extra. The size of my sign is 16″ x 9″ it is made of heavy metal and has enamel paint. In my last picture I have a picture of a reproduction of this sign, as you can see it looks like 1 1/2 of my sign was cut off. The reproduction sign in NOT included but only as a comparison.
